How did we live in a car for tens days?? Lots of planning ahead. Although the trunk was stuffed, we made sure the back seat was available for day to day living. Maps, snacks, CD's and overnight bags were given top priority- and a comfy back seat! First aid and travel emergency kits were also allotted space in the car (good thing, we got a flat in Memphis!) along with a snow scraper that I insisted we didn't need (we broke that baby out in Nashville- Nashville!!) We wanted to be able to grab and go when we pulled into the hotels after a really long day...so here was our set up (obviously, we tweaked it a bit during the trip until it was just right!):
- Maps and guide books were in a tote that started out on the floor behind the driver's seat but eventually, my brilliant navigator decided he wanted everything at his feet- okay!
- CD's were placed in a box- back seat center - easily available to change in accordance with our mood and scenery changes!
- Snacks and drinks were in a little cooler behind the driver's seat- easily accessible by the navigator/snack supplier/thirst quencher. ; )
- And finally our overnight bags were on the seat behind the passenger so we could grab and go...
Worked out really well. I should say, I placed one fantastic friend in the passenger seat to make the long drive go quickly...he didn't disappoint! ; )
